What was Google ARA ?

Technologies are developing day by day & many of the us are trying to keep their Smartphones up-to date. Software update can be done easily. But when it comes to hardware updates then it becomes impossible .Now here comes Google Project ARA !

What is Project ARA ?

Project ARA is a modular Smartphone.

The concept is simple: treat a phone like it is a lego toy. Assemble the phone according to the parts you need enhanced.LEGO-style bricks that could be attached, rearranged, and swapped out in seconds.

This Smartphone will have all the functionalities with six flexible slots which are called as ARA Frames. There will be different ARA Modules which will be placed in these frames. Different ARA Modules Like


  • Camera
  • Speaker
  • Battery
  • Mobile Stand
  • CPU
  • GPU
  • Sensors
  • Display
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • And many more.



Using these different modules create your own smartphone according to your needs.
The ARA frame is built in with durable latches and connectors which keep the modules safe ,intact and secure.
Plucking the module and inserting another module is very easy .

For instance 
If you are a photographer, you could focus on upgrading your camera or lens.
If you are a music lover, you can aim for better speakers and audio quality or longer-lasting batteries for uninterrupted listening time.
If you are a traveller, you can go for compass which will enhance Google maps.

So Instead of buying a phone that may not have the feature you are interested in most, have more control with a Project Ara phone.

Project Ara not only lets you “upgrade” the hardware you need most, it also ensures that you don’t have to change your whole smartphone just because one part is broken, which is essentially what forces most of us to change our phones in the first place anyways

Google has Cancelled this project !!!!!!!

The developer version of this project was going to be launched in this september .But now nothing !!!

Li-Fi

Li-Fi : "Future Of Wireless Networks"*





Introduction:

Hello, Friends as we promised to bring a new technology in depth for you, which could change the world. So, its  Li-Fi(Light Fidelity) which could soon replace Wi-Fi  or will work with Wi-Fi in recent years*.

I can pretty understand that it may be an "Ultra Shock" for you  all to hear some replacement for our Life-Saver "Wi-Fi" :p :)
So, Now we will see Li-Fi in details.

What is Li-Fi?

Light Fidelity or Li-Fi is like a Visible Light Communications (VLC) system running wireless communications travelling at very high speeds.
Li-Fi uses common household LED (light emitting diodes) lightbulbs to enable data transfer, boasting speeds of up to 224 gigabits per second.
The term Li-Fi was coined by University of Edinburgh Professor Harald Haas . Haas envisioned light bulbs that could act as wireless routers.
What a marvelous invention this is!!!! Just imagine how great it would be to download 18 movies of 1.5 GB each in just one second.


How Li-Fi creates Communication?

This Optical Wireless Communications(OWC) technology uses light from light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as a medium to deliver networked, mobile, high-speed communication in a similar manner to Wi-Fi.


Visible light communications (VLC) works by switching the current to the LEDs off and on at a very high rate, too quick to be noticed by the human eye.
Also,multi-colored RGB (Red/Green/Blue) LED's at retina size could be engineered to send and receive a wider range of signals than single-colored phosphor-coated white LED's


Working of Li-Fi:

A LED lighting fixture encodes and modulate the streaming content or message data from Internet or Server as light output with rapid rate of switching current(naked to human eye) to a receiving photo detector, which converts the changes in light intensity to electrical current.
In turn, the electrical signal is converted into binary data stream and then it is sent to any device like laptops, mobiles connected to the system.
However, working of Li-fi based system is purely dependent on Receiver dongle.
As Li-Fi is still in research phase so many new things could rise up to increase the capability and efficiency of Li-fi.

Advantages of Li-Fi:

  • Lab tests have shown that Li-Fi can hit speeds 100 times faster than current Wi-Fi systems which uses radio waves to transmit data.
  • The system uses visible light communication between 400 and 800 terahertz to transmit messages in binary code. 
  • Visible light cannot pass through walls, making Li-Fi a much more secure system, and less susceptible to interference.
  •  Useful in electromagnetic sensitive areas such as in aircraft  cabins, hospitals and nuclear power plants without causing electromagnetic interference.
    So Friends in Future if 15 millions LED or Illumination Device  is enabled with Li-Fi microchip then we would not only have LED's but also Li-Fi deployed for cleaner, greener and eco-friendly environment where we can live happily and with all data access in our  hand with tremendous speed.

Google's TANGO


TANGO-A Window in Virtual World*!!











TANGO:

  • TANGO(Formerly known as Project Tango while testing) is a technology platform developed and authored by Google that uses computer vision to enable mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to detect their position relative to the world around them without using GPS or other external signals.
  • This feature actually helped developers to create indoor navigation, 3D mapping, physical space measurement, environmental recognition, augmented reality.
  • The first product to emerge from Google's ATAP skunkworks group ,Tango was developed by a team led by computer scientist Johnny Lee, a core contributor to Microsoft's Kinect.
So guys isn't this amazing:)...It just proves how incredibly we are exploring every corner of Technology.
So now lets see TANGO in depth.


Tango Enabled Devices*:

The Peanut Phone:

"Peanut" was the first production Project Tango device, released in the first quarter of 2014. It was a small Android phone with a Qualcomm MSM8974 quad-core processor and additional special hardware including a fisheye-lens camera (for motion tracking), "RGB-IR" camera (for color images and infrared depth detection), and Movidius Vision processing units.

"Yellowstone" is a 7-inch tablet with full Project Tango functionality, released in June 2014, and sold as the Project Tango Tablet Development Kit. It features a 2.3 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro(Smartphone):

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is world first consumer phone based on "Tango". AR(Augmented reality) and VR(Virtual Reality) tools and utilities are available.(Details about this phone will be discussed in upcoming posts.)

In the summer of 2015, Qualcomm and Intel both announced that they are developing Tango reference devices as models for device manufacturers who use their mobile chipsets.
So we will see lots of devices in future enabled with TANGO.

Working*:

Don't get surprised by reading "It detects your position without GPS" :p...this the fact why this project amazed billions of hearts worldwide.

Then how its detect our exact position???

Part 1: Collection of Data

This software works by collecting all the data from these three functionality:
  • Motion-tracking: using visual features of the environment, in combination with accelerometer and gyroscope data, to closely track the device's movements in space
  • Area learning: storing environment data in a map that can be re-used later, shared with other Project Tango devices, and enhanced with metadata such as notes, instructions, or points of interest
  • Depth perception: detecting distances, sizes, and surfaces in the environment
Together, these generate data about the device in "six degrees of freedom" (3 axes of orientation plus 3 axes of motion) and detailed three-dimensional information about the environment.

Part 2: Accessing this Data
Interface to move

Applications on mobile devices use
Project Tango's C and Java APIs to access this data in real time.
An Interface is created through which user can moved through the space by rotating and moving tango device in real space.

Working*:-

FireChat Connects 2 phones directly with one another prior to that wifi and bluetooth of both devices must be switched ON.If the 2 phones are within the range of 200 meters , they get connected automatically
When there are more than 2 phones , it creates a larger network called peer-to-peer Mesh Network.
Now consider above example where there are 12 people who are using firechat.

  1. When a person wants to chat , the message will be travelling from one device to another and reach recipient.
  2. If the person with whom you want to chat is not part ofyour local network of firechat and you also don't have internet connection , then Firechat will search will travel to another device and if internet connection is available then the message will be delivered via Internet.
  3. When an Internet connection or cellular network is available, FireChat uses them to reach remote recipients.

The Best thing is that the message is encrypted , so that only you and the recipient can read it if the message is sent privately.It can also transmit pictures offline within the range.


Conclusion*:-
So this is a great innovation which uses peer-to-peer mesh network to chat . 
A great option available to communicate with peoples during situation of  natural disaster.
So this is really a great innovative app.

Are you Ready for Android N?


Android Nougat Update






We all are excited about this new Android N update. And Lots of  things are already familiar about this update.
And Finally Google has announced the name of Android N..
Its Android Nougat..so many guesses and finally Nougat has won!!






Features*:


Split Screen Multi-Window Mode:

So, finally we can say that we will be now able to experience real Multitasking .Don't you think it will be pretty amazing to watch video and do chatting at same time on single screen:-)

Direct Reply Feature:

We are already facing this issue a lot of time when we need to navigate to different screen just for replying to  an incoming message.But don't worry Android N has already taken care of that,by introducing Direct Reply notification. All social media apps will  be keen on introducing this inline messaging.

Android N VR:

A buried menu for VR helper services in Android N Developer Preview 2, and an equally buried release note for "Android VR" in Unreal Engine 4.12 beta hints at a big push for a Google Cardboard successor - and Google confirmed its VR intentions during IO.So are you ready for this great experience??

Quick Settings:

So this is the greatness of Android,its always make you think "OMG,If this is it,then what will be next?".Quick setting just like LG phones will be really helpful.
As I used Wifi more than Airplane mode,So lets keep that in Quick Setting.

Doze Mode 2.0:

So now reading that it should be so much relief for you all as we already had Doze Mode in our Marshmallow update, and now we have Doze Mode 2.0.It will make your phone battery consumption less when its idle(true idle). Just as when you are sleeping, it will optimize itself such that will secrete less battery power. So it will not trouble after you wakeup as it will be decreased by less extent;)

Performance and Other Features:

As we will be experiencing new pressure sensitive technology which will lead to many 3D experience tools.
Also the performance will be increased by Launcher Shortcuts as compared to Marshmallows.
Next Google will be introducing Unicode 9 and many new fun emoji with that.

So, It will be really great. As always Google and Android are making its user Happy!!
